Miranda's Rights (Paranormal Detective Series - Book 2) by Lily Luchesi

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Summary

After the events in Stake-Out , Danny Mancini left the Paranormal Investigative Division (PID) to lead a "normal" life away from his former lover, Angelica, and all things paranormal. He is engaged to the woman of his dreams; however, his past life with the PID and Angelica haunts him while he sleeps.

Just days before Danny's wedding, his fiancée is murdered. Shortly after her funeral, Danny is attacked by cursed werewolves and finds himself back in the PID where he is forced to face old loves and former enemies as he investigates who is behind the cursed werewolves.

Review

In case you did not notice from my previous posts , I have been looking forward to the second installment of the Paranormal Detectives Series since I finished Stake-Out , and Miranda's Rights was worth the wait!

I liked how Luchesi effortlessly continued the plot from Stake-Out; there are not any huge, unexplained gaps in the timeline that require a long recap of the events in Stake-Out. The action begins almost immediately, and I enjoyed the addition of other paranormal elements in the story that were blended in with the existing plot elements.

I was thrilled to learn about the origins of the PID and Angelica's past, which included an interesting twist about why werewolves and vampires are rivals. I think that this twist in the plot added realism to Angelica's character while maintaining the kick-ass and confident nature that I loved about her in Stake-Out .

Finally, I enjoyed the realistic dynamic between Angelica and Danny. I got the impression that both of them had moved on, but their feelings for each other remained unresolved. When Danny returned to the PID, they both had reasons why they were reluctant to pick up where they left off in their relationship. This added an intriguing dimension to the plot as they tried to sort out their feelings for one another.

Luchesi does a fantastic job of striking the perfect balance between action, paranormal, and romance to create a plot that makes Miranda's Rights difficult to put down. If you are looking for a new paranormal series to follow, the Paranormal Detective Series by Lily Luchesi is definitely worth getting a hold of.
